Home page Minehead What you will find 20 good reasons How to find us

Blenheim Lodge is ideally situated, on one side looking out over the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast, on the other across the road to the beautiful Blenheim Gardens and the foothills of Exmoor beyond.

The principal shops, hotels and Churches are within an easy walking distance - mainly on the level.

It is also a short level walk to the public library and Minehead General Hospital.

Activities at Blenheim Lodge Residential Home

Firstly, you will have noticed that due to its location, Blenheim Lodge provides an ideal setting for those of you who are keen to walk out in the park, along the sea front or even down to the town. For those of you who are not able, the staff can offer wheelchair walks when time allows.

Perhaps it would be useful for you to know what we cannot offer at Blenheim Lodge. We are not in a position to enable you to ‘potter’ in the kitchen, peg out the washing, assist with DIY or become involved in the daily running of the Home. Nor will you find a programme of professional ‘entertainers’ hired to amuse you.

Blehneim Lodge and the entrance to Blenheim GardensWhat you will find is that we are a Residential Home with strong links to the local community which underpin our activities:

  • A weekly planned programme, giving you the opportunity to join with the other Residents and the Activities Organiser to enjoy in-house activities (often over morning coffee or afternoon tea): classical music; book-reading out loud; special videos; bingo; crosswords; poetry-reading, quizzes and the opportunity to play ‘parlour- games’ together
  • Regular chair-based flexercise sessions
  • Regular in-house Church Services and visiting Clergy
  • Regular mini-bus trips to carefully selected venues and countryside
  • A selection of large-print library books refreshed every six weeks
  • A hairdresser who attends weekly
  • A volunteer-run trolley shop – ‘order’ this week and ‘receive’ the next
  • A monthly Newsletter to which you are welcome to contribute
  • A central picture notice board for your contributions of interest
  • Pastoral visitors who attend on a voluntary basis
  • The opportunity to assist with or watch patio gardening
  • Visiting pets (with owners!)
  • Local ‘music-makers’ of very high standard who come to share their talents with us: duettists, pianists, vocal artists, recorder ensemble, handbell-ringers, choirs
