Activities
Blenheim Lodge provides a weekly timetable of activities including Flexercise, Quizzes, Games, Jigsaws, Walks, Shopping, Outings, Music and Crafts . We also organise charity events, coffee mornings, cream teas, cheese and wine evenings and trips to the local Memory cafe. Volunteers visit Blenheim Lodge regularly to offer activities including Church services and dog petty sessions. And a qualified trainer comes to the Home weekly to provide Tai Chi to residents.
Blenheim Gardens, the sea front promenade and historic harbour, Minehead town centre and the West Somerset heritage railway are all a short, level walk from Blenheim Lodge. |
Blenheim Gardens
These beautiful gardens across the road from Blenheim Lodge offer safe, level walking into the Town of Minehead. The beautifully-laid out borders and flowerbeds have won numerous prizes. There is an area for putting and, on Summer Sundays, a band concert. Deckchairs are available and refreshments can be obtained in the park café. Minehead Steam Railway West Somerset Railway trains run from the nearby Minehead station.From here you can experience a wide variety of day trips on the beautifully restored railway engines and carriages, visiting picturesque stations as you wind your way through the Somerset countryside. Minehead Town and Seafront The promenade with its cafés, bars and shops offers access to the sandy beach and spectacular views across to North Hill. Minehead’s picturesque harbour with its RNLI station and shop, also hosts summer pleasure boat cruises on the paddle steamer Waverley and motor vessel Balmoral. |
Regal Theatre
The Regal Theatre seats 400 seats plus spaces for wheelchair users and their companions with fixed raked seating, good acoustics and a hearing loop. There have been successful large and small scale performances in the auditorium of drama, ballet, contemporary dance, classical and all styles of music by large and small drama companies, choirs, full scale orchestras, small bands and individuals. An attractive and airy bar with with a modern and friendly atmosphere and outside balcony is available for all performances. Small scale events take place in the bar and are very popular for music, close-up theatre, poetry, jazz etc. Both the bar and auditorium are at first floor level but are fully accessible for wheelchair users and patrons that find the stairs difficult via a modern, glass, lift. |
